In the past twelve months, I have learned and experienced so many beautiful things. My second book, Fire & Ice: The Lost Dreamer, was published for the world to read, and I couldn't be any more proud of my work. It's been a long and difficult journey, but I've managed to share my writing with people across the globe. Without the support and kindness of so many people, much of my success might not be reality. So, thank you! Thank you to all of my lovely readers, friends, and family. You have made an incredible impact on my life, and I couldn't be any more grateful. In the year of 2017, my creativity and imagination carried through to my actions. Exploration and adventure governed so much of my time, yet every moment was experienced with a sort of restless freedom. My career as a teen author has allowed my heart to shine through my character, which was once shy and hidden from the world. The realm of Aisling continues to expand with brilliance, and it doesn't care to slow down any time soon. I have grown to know so many wonderful authors in the past year! Believe it or not, there is a little community of talented teen authors in our world. Together, we have shared advice, encouragement, and support. One might consider it impossible to forget about such a remarkable group of people. All of my hard work in high school has allowed me to graduate a semester early; therefore, I'm officially a member of the class of 2017. I've managed to graduate with a great load of college credits, which will be helpful when I attend university in the fall. Perhaps most importantly, I have found the courage to truly pursue my calling. As my writing continues with the third installment in the Fire & Ice book series, I look forward to the future of my author career and the many opportunities and experiences of the new year. My heart is beaming with faith, happiness, and excitement. Thanks for sticking around! A Few Highlights from 2017

The adventures of the Hanley sisters continue in this enchanting tale, and the destiny of the Four Elementals takes an unexpected turn. Your favorite characters are greeted by several new faces. Step into the realm of Aisling, and experience the magic of an unforgettable and fateful summer. Please read the synopsis below! The Four Elementals have vanquished the creatures of the Night Oak Forest; however, a new darkness lurks in the realm of Aisling. As their family moves into the manor that once belonged to their late grandmother, the Hanley sisters must adjust to life in the enchanted countryside. Between the extravagant galas, beautiful gardens, and elegant wardrobes, the new lifestyle begs for the title of perfection. Nevertheless, it is not long before the twin sisters are greeted by the peculiar memories that dwell in the old house. A forgotten mystery beckons for attention, and the truth threatens to reveal a series of ancient secrets. The simple answers of the previous year are countered by the complicated history of the Gifted society. Despite the endless days of warm weather, many of us are looking forward to wearing our favorite sweaters and drinking a warm cup of tea.
Let's face it ... I'm tired of wearing three layers of sunscreen. Fall is my favorite season, although I have always loved the budding flowers of springtime. There are few things that compare to the crisp scent of dying leaves and pumpkin spice. I'm not basic, I promise! In the words of my favorite author, L.M. Montgomery, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." It's strange to think that I will be turning eighteen on Halloween ... I'm sure that I will always feel like a child in my soul. When I was younger, I always dressed up as my favorite literary characters for Halloween. The long list includes Alice Liddell, Lucy Pevensie, Maximum Ride, and Luna Lovegood. It's incredible to know that several people will be portraying a few of the characters from my own books! As many of my readers have requested, below you will find a step-by-step guide to the attire of the Gifted people. Alice Hanley As you already know, Alice Hanley is the main character in the Fire & Ice Book Series. She is known for her courageous personality, bright red hair, and fiery powers. When it comes to fashion, the teenage girl prefers to wear a simple dress, stockings, leather boots, and her favorite cloak. She never takes off the famous vial necklace that was inherited from her late grandmother. Alice's elemental Gift is an important part of her character. Emery Hanley Emery Hanley is the twin sister of our brave heroine, although their appearances and personalities are quite the opposite. The blonde-haired girl lives in the ocean of her mind, and she expresses her emotions with cerulean eyes. Her favorite color is light blue; therefore, the majority of her wardrobe conforms to this standard. Despite her shy and quiet demeanor, Emery Hanley has a strong spirit. Kade O'Reilly Kade O'Reilly is the twin sister of Ronan O'Reilly, and she was Gifted with the power of flight. Before she was introduced to the Academy for Gifted Youth, she developed a huge pair of raven wings. She is very good friends with the Hanley sisters. Her physical appearance includes the features of short brown hair, blue eyes, and freckles. She has a stubborn and talkative personality, and her style is often compared to a tomboy. A colorful feather is always hiding in her hair. Ronan O'Reilly Ronan O'Reilly is the twin brother of Kade, and he was Gifted with the power of telekinesis. Although Ronan is always working to perfect the control over his abilities, random objects are always floating around him. Much of his time is spent between the shelves of the Academy library, and his favorite books are flooded with poetry. Ronan's attire is quite basic for a teenage boy in the realm of Aisling; he usually wears a wool sweater, leather boots, etc. Happy Halloween! ~ Erin The beginning of September has arrived with swift footsteps, and the month brings the start of a new school year. As an avid reader and busy college student, I have experienced the struggle of balancing my homework with my love for books! It can be quite difficult to find the time that you need to read that new fantasy novel, when you are already occupied with a long history essay. I suppose that summer break gives us plenty of time to finish our reading list; however, there are always new books to pour over. Despite my busy schedule and author career, I always try to devote a few hours to reading on a daily basis. There are times when I only manage to finish a single chapter before falling asleep at night. Nevertheless, you can almost always find a book hidden in my purse. After all, one never knows when they will find the perfect moment to read. Last weekend, my friend invited me to join her at a music festival in the mountains of upstate New York. We camped in a pale green meadow, and danced to the sound of lovely folk songs. I was able to find several places for exploration, as the venue was located beside some marvelous hiking trails. After swimming in the freezing water that cascaded from a waterfall, we wandered through the center of a beautiful gorge. This was the perfect place to find inspiration for my writing. In other news, I will be traveling to Ireland in a few days! I can't wait to reunite with my cousins and explore more. I will be sure to keep all of you updated on my new adventures. Keep an eye out for a new vlog on my YouTube channel!

It has been several months since my last blog post, so I must apologize for my absence. My schedule has been very busy with book events, college courses, sports, and writing; however, I like to believe that I have become skilled in the art of balancing schoolwork and my author career.

If you would like to stay updated with my author adventures, feel free to follow me on social media! The links are below. During many of my most recent interviews and author discussions, I have been asked what my best advice would be for an aspiring young author. I wanted to make a blog post for all of those who have been too far away to attend the Fire & Ice: The Elementals book tour. READ! I have never met a writer who does not like to read, and I believe this is because the two passions are inseparable. You simply cannot be a very good writer if you never find the time to read the works of other authors. Reading is essential to developing your own creative talent and way of articulating words. My advice to you is this: read almost as much as you write, and write almost as much as you read. Carry a Notebook It is always best to start your writing with a unique idea, but these ideas don't always arrive when you are sitting at your laptop. Inspiration can strike at any moment. I find that my best ideas come to me when I am least expecting it. Therefore, it is essential to have a notebook and pencil on hand at all times. However, I often use Notes on my iPod for the same purpose. Find Inspiration in Your Surroundings When my mind is clouded in a terrible state of writer's block, I find my inspiration in everyday surroundings. You can connect with these ideas through a walk in the park or forest. Music is also a fantastic way to discover writing inspiration. I have created my own Spotify playlists for Fire & Ice. Make Time to Write We often find our schedules too busy to take the time that we need to write; however, I believe that we should all make the time to write. Whether you find a moment in the early mornings or late afternoons, allow yourself a few hours to sit with a cup of tea and pencil in hand. A writer must prioritize the time that they spend working on their craft. Never Give Up If you have always dreamed of finishing your first novel or becoming a published author, do not allow yourself to sit around and wait. Start writing! Take action! Stay focused and devoted to your creative project. Great things do not happen from doubt and uncertainty. If you truly want to devote your life to writing, pick up the pen and allow your words and ideas to escape through the ink. |
